Frequently Asked Questions

 Do you accept insurance?

I do not take insurance however I can give you a super bill that you can submit to your insurance company for out of network coverage if you desire.  It is important to understand that submitting a super bill means that your insurance company will have your diagnosis and access to sensitive information (sometimes they will contact me for more information ie: treatment goals and progress).  If you choose to submit a super bill you are still responsible for your fee at the time of service.  You are responsible for contacting your insurance company and following their directions for submission.  They will reimburse you directly.

Do you provide Substance Use Disorder Services?

No, I do not provide SUD services. Having a substance use disorder can be extremely high-risk and is not considered appropriate for a private practice environment. If these services are necessary while you are linked with me, I will provide you with a referral to an appropriate level of care. Upon addressing your substance use disorder/receiving treatment for it, you can re-link with me for mental health counseling if you would like to at that time.

Is everything I tell you confidential?

Confidentiality is a key component to the counseling relationship between client and therapist. The only circumstances that allow me to break confidentiality is if there is reason for me to believe that you are a threat to yourself or others. As a counselor, I have the right to breach confidentiality to ensure the safety of the client and the public. This is called a counselors' "duty to warn." I'm also a mandated reporter for NYS and therefore mandated to report any instances of child abuse and or neglect, as well as elder abuse and or neglect. Another way that confidentiality can potentially be breached is if you any legal matters. With current or pending legal matters there is always the possibility that a judge can subpoena your file or myself.

What is EAP?

EAP stands for Employee Assistance Program. An EAP is designed as a work-based intervention program that offers free, confidential assessments, short-term counseling, referrals & follow-up services to employees who have a personal/work-related problem that may be effecting their work performance. EAPs link the employee/client with a preferred provider who they're affiliated with. I'm currently a Preferred Provider affiliated with LifeWorks EAP.
